Circle B and Rittal opt for maincubes AMS01 data center for European OCP Experience Center
Amsterdam, 2 August 2019 – Circle B, an OCP Solutions Provider , and Rittal, manufacturer of infrastructure solutions for data centers, have moved the first European Open Compute Project (OCP) Experience Center to maincubes AMS01 data center in Amsterdam. Established in 2018 the European OCP Experience Centers goal is to help IT and data center managers to fully understand the impact of OCP designs on their facilities. The fully-functional OCP environment is available at maincubes site as a demo facility, however, it can also function for testing new OCP Accepted and OCP Inspired datacenter environments and telco solutions that are relevant to certain IT environments.

The European OCP Experience Center has played an important role in the adoption of OCP inspired data center designs in the European region, states Steve Helvie, VP of Channel for the Open Compute Project Foundation. Circle B will keep its role as supplier while Rittal will further drive hardware development.
Commitment to the OCP principles
The three companies involved have realized that IT managers at large enterprises and governments in the European region have initiated OCP principles at scale. These principles form the basis on which many hyperscalers operate. Therefore, large and medium-sized enterprises and government agencies can benefit from the same advantages as hyperscalers: cost reductions, lower energy usage and much more flexibility.
The Open Compute Project (OCP) and its foundation is a non-profit organization and was founded in 2011. It is a collaborative community which focuses on sharing and redesigning hardware technology especially for data centers to efficiently improve hardware designs for scalable computing.
maincubes offers a network of high-availability colocation data centers which form the basis for digital eco-systems and therefore the development of the smart economy.
